Saturday morning until Monday evening, we went to Paris. And oh God, was it good!
We nearly missed the train on Saturday morning. We got there in plenty of time, but there was a huauage queue to collect our tickets. We got our tickets a minute before the train was due to leave, and we legged it through the train station, jumped on the train, and 20 seconds later, the doors closed.
The train was really fast, I actually felt a little sick looking out the window. They travel at an average speed of about 180mph. After 59 minutes, we arrived in Paris. We hopped straight on the Metro which was remarkably easy to use.
On Saturday we saw the Moulin Rouge, and the Sacré Coeur. These are both in the red-light district, but it was during the day, so there wasn't much happening. I did see a couple of lady boys walk past though!

Sunday, we went in search of the Eiffel Tower. Dave and I walked up 1/4 of it to the first floor, but bless him, Dave is terrified of heights so we couldn't go any further.
Then we headed to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Eleysees (the major shopping street). At the end of the Champs Eleysees, there was a huge Christmas market which made us feel festive! By this time it was dark and our feet were killing, so we headed back to the hotel for a rest. Then we headed back to the Eiffel Tower to watch the light show whilst eating a chocolate crepe. It is on for the first 15 minutes of every hour until 1AM. Then we got a beer and a glass of champagne in a café with a perfect view of the tower, and we stayed there and watched the next light show.
The last day, we went to see the Notre Dame Cathedral, and wandered around the nice shops there. Then we went back to the Champs Elysees because we wanted to find the difficult to find designer shops, which were hidden down little streets. I was very happy to find the Chanel shop - they even have a little Chanel hedge!
